Winter Activities- H&V Style

Did you know the first day of winter is tomorrow!? Probably not if you live in New York with all of this glorious 50 degree weather! Unfortunately, chances are this luck will run out sooner or later.  We’ve got you covered. Get your vehicles ready! Whether you live up North by our Queensbury facility, down towards our new Kingston location or somewhere in between, H&V has a fun winter day trip to get you through the cold, dreary days to come!

Albany- Empire “Skate” Plaza

Of course we can’t have a fun winter activity list without mentioning ice skating! The Empire State Plaza in Albany is one of the most popular rinks in New York. Open from 11A.M. to 8P.M. through March 13th, you and your family will surely find joy slipping and sliding (and trying not to fall) under the egg!

Clifton Park-Hockey at Longkill Pond

Ice skating not challenging enough for you? Get a group of friends together and start up a game of hockey at Longkill Pond on Carlton and Main Street! Make sure to wait until there has been a lengthy span of freezing weather to ensure the ice is completely thickened!

Kingston- Hunter Mountain Tubing Park

Nothing will kick your winter spirit into full gear like zooming high speed down New York State’s largest tubing park! Hunter mountain also offers a children’s hill for the kiddies, a snack bar, and fire pit. Call ahead for their availability as schedules vary and space is limited!

Saratoga- Chowder Fest

Chowder lovers unite! Venture around downtown Saratoga on February 6th from 11-4 to test out the delicious concoctions offered at this year’s chowder fest. Then stop at Mrs. London’s for some of the tastiest hot cocoa in upstate New York… Can you say YUMMY!?

 

Schenectady- White Christmas at Proctors

What’s better to spark some winter cheer than watching White Christmas at Proctors? The historic theater on State Street is hosting the classic holiday production from December 22nd-27th. This play is appropriate for all ages, making it a family night must!

Troy- Winter Farmer’s Market

Don’t let the winter stop you from getting the freshest products in the area! The extremely popular Troy Farmer’s Market has moved inside for the winter. Every Saturday from 9:00AM-2:00 PM the Atrium will be filled with your favorite local vendors!

Queensbury- Lake George Winter Carnival

Celebrated for over 50 years, Lake George’s Winter Carnival is sure to provide you with some excitement this season! Outhouse races, Cook offs, Snowmobile water skips and flag football are just some of the many events that will take place during the month long festival. Taking place every Saturday and Sunday throughout February, this is one winter trip you don’t want to miss out on!
